Description:
Microdermabrasion is a mini procedure that involves
the skin being "sandblasted" by aluminum oxide crystals
to gently remove the very outermost layer of the skin. This
outer layer is comprised of dead, dull skin cells, which are
vacuumed away with the crystals, resulting in a smoother,
more refined skin texture.
Microdermabrasion also promotes
the production of new cells in the deepest layer of the dermis
and stimulates collagen production.
Microdermabrasion will help gradually reduce the appearance
of large pores and is often used in conjunction with chemical
peels, FotoFacials and other services. This technique will
clean out clogged pores, but is not recommended that Microdermabrasion
be used simoultaneously with Renova or Retin A, since the
skin is more sensitive while using those types of products.
After treatment, patients are advised to use sunscreens and
avoid direct sunlight.
You may use makeup after treatment
and aside from avoiding the aforementioned products, there
is no downtime. In fact, patients usually love the warm, healthy
glow they have after a microdermabrasion treatment. You may
have a slight pinkness, but the pinkness will diminish within
one day.
