Breast reduction improves the appearance and symptoms
of overly large breasts by reducing their size and reshaping them.
Patients will often come in for this procedure due to shoulder,
back and neck pain associated with overly large breasts.
New developments in breast reduction surgery include the limited
incision techniques and the use of liposculpture for artistic shaping
of the breast. The surgeons at GIAA take great care to create a
natural shape with minimal scarring.
General Recovery Information: Some swelling will
occur but usually begins to go away by the third or fourth day,
and any discomfort is usually easily controlled with medication.
Patients should rest as much possible for the first week and most
go back to work within 1-2 weeks. Patients should avoid raising
their arms over their head for several weeks, but can drive in one
week and resume light physical activity in 2-3 weeks usually. Strenuous
exercising or lifting should be avoided for at least 3-4 weeks.
